It has been observed that
- Run report from PBI web (PBIRS server --> SSAS server --> TD) – we see 4 connections
- Run same report from PBI desktop (PBI desktop --> SSAS server --> TD) – we see 16 connections

Please look into increasing the number of connections

RE: Increase number of connections

This is a impacting overall user experience on both (PowerBI Report Server and PowerBI Service). Please make Parallelism limit configurable as part of some property at server or report level instead of hardcoded value of 4. We have very robust infrastructure which is underutilized due to limitation which we want to scale up on our implementation.

Please refer the community post with detailed question https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Service/Why-there-is-a-delay-in-Query-Begin-on-Power-BI/m-p/1574529#M116957

RE: Increase number of connections

Parallelism choice should be a setting not hardcoded. Without more than 3 threads, the services are failing to deliver as unhappy users have to wait for reports to populate and show up on screen, providing a bad experience to customers.

RE: Increase number of connections

This is a business critical feature for us to launch on Power BI Premium and on On-Prem Power BI Reporting Server.

This is limiting us from scaling up on our implementation. Any assistance to prioritize this would be appreciated.
