There should be an undo option in case you have accidentally deleted a step in the 'applied steps' section in Power Query Editor.

RE: Undo option in 'Applied Steps' in Power Query Editor

The Power Query Editor should have a true undo/redo function, accessible by Ctrl+Z/Y shortcut and back/forward arrow icons in the title bar, which would simply undo/redo whatever action was most recently (un)done, no matter if it was adding a step, removing a step, modifying a step, or rearranging steps. Currently, the only way to undo anything other than an added step is to Close (Not Apply) the Power Query Editor, then click the Discard Changes button in the yellow bar that appears under the ribbon, which results in the loss of ALL un-applied changes, not just the most recent one.

In practice, this means that anyone who is learning how to manually edit M queries has to Close & Apply after every single successful edit, so as to avoid losing their work as a result of having to discard all un-applied changes, just to undo a single mistake. And of course whenever you Close & Apply, it re-loads the whole model, which can take a LONG time, depending on the size of the model. This missing feature makes the Power Query Editor intimidating & time consuming for new users, which means it's probably inhibiting the adoption of all MS products that incorporate it, not just Power BI.

RE: Undo option in 'Applied Steps' in Power Query Editor

Somehow adding a strange step in wiped out all of my other steps afterwords. It didn't even give me errors it just wiped out the steps. It seems there is no ability to undo in applied steps. This is a huge problem. Please fix this.

RE: Undo option in 'Applied Steps' in Power Query Editor

This happens to me when I'm working on deleting columns from the dataset, then skip to a different step, and come back to the previous "remove columns" step, and press Delete because the column I want to delete appears to be highlighted/selected. Unfortunately I delete the query step instead of the column, and usually I've accumulated a lot of column deletes in the step I accidentally delete. It's happened to me twice in the last hour of work.
