Today, if you set a custom filter on a column, your choices for the "Enter or Select a Value" field are to filter by:

  • A value that exists in the column,
  • A parameter
  • Create a new parameter

We need the ability to choose "A query", which returns a list of all queries that return a scalar (single) value. This would allow us the ability to set up a specific query that dynamically drills down to a value (like a year), and then EASILY use it in a filter.

Granted, we can set a filter to a hard coded value, and then replace it with a query name in the M code, but it should not be necessary. This should exist as one of the options in the existing user interface (for both Basic and Advanced filters.)
