When accessing power-bi data with excel, existing hierarchy filters are also usable in Excel. This does apply for manual created hierarchy filters as well as with automated hierarchy filters (e.g. in Dates).
However this feature is not working as soon as you have at least one table with direct query mode. In this case all hierarchy filters are gone.
Therefore the request is, that also in direct query mode the hierarchy filters should be available (at least for the tables still in import mode).
Besides this current behaviour should be documented.

RE: Keep/Allow Hierarchy Filters (in Excel) in Direct Query Mode
also for Direct lake mode,CX asked for it in case we can make it available..
RE: Keep/Allow Hierarchy Filters (in Excel) in Direct Query Mode
I just confirmed that this issue exists with "Direct Lake" mode in Fabric as well. Fabric looks great but one of the most exciting features is the combination of import mode performance with the "DirectQuery-like" view of current data you get with Direct Lake over the Lakehouse. However, we won't be switching to Fabric until we can use our datasets (lots of hierarchies) equally well with Power BI and Excel.
RE: Keep/Allow Hierarchy Filters (in Excel) in Direct Query Mode
Power BI Desktop / Online - Direct Query Dataverse data - Date Hierarchy needs to be enabled. I don't understand why would you not have this available with Direct Query, but it is there when we Import the data. Problem with Import D365 Sales Online data, it times out with Contact / Account after 10 mins!!!
RE: Keep/Allow Hierarchy Filters (in Excel) in Direct Query Mode
Same here - we eagerly need this! Othervice the value of the direct query feature is really getting limited if we loose such functionality on the other end...
RE: Keep/Allow Hierarchy Filters (in Excel) in Direct Query Mode
I don't understand the technical difficulty for making this possible.
It's super useful and as long as we have it for excel source it's more than reasonable to have it for direct query.
