It seems that when I send a query such as "Count Distinct of Item Title" from my data set, it ignores Distinct, and only provides a summary. Likewise, if I create a report that uses count distinct, and pin it to the dashboard, it treats it as Count (not blank), so the wrong value appears in the dashboard.

RE: Count Distinct in Q & A & Dashboard Views
I've had a similar issue where I have text fields set to count distinct, and in some cases Q&A will observe the count distinct, and in other cases will just completely fail.
This happens for the same field, formatted and summarized in the same way, just coming from different data sets.
When it fails, it doesn't even treat the field like a do not summarize, it just returns "weren't able to find a good answer"
I've not been able to find any explanation as to why it works sometimes and not others

You could easily create a new measure to do count distinct items
