The number formatting should be in accordance with excel. The options available in excel for number formatting is quite brilliant.
I hope Power BI can somehow integrate custom number formatting in the desktop version.

Thank you.

RE: Number formatting

Need to include India's Number Format.

Currently we have US number format in the App due to which it's creating confusion and difficulties in visualization.
For Example in Power BI Desktop App it is 150,443,572 which is a US format but in India it's 15,04,43,572.

So, it will be better for visualization if we also include Indian Number Format.

RE: Number formatting

Agreed! What good is showing us all those special codes that go into formatting the different date options if we can't then USE them to create our own!

Specifically, I'm looking for yyyy MMM, or "2018 Mar"

RE: Number formatting

To have the option of adding parenthesis on a number when it is negative - conditional formatting.

RE: Number formatting

In most Common Wealth countries the date format is dd/mm/yy. The slicer is confusing to my customers in India as is shows the date in US format.

RE: Number formatting

Completely agree, the focus seems to be solely on US date formats.

RE: Number formatting

Surely there is a need for greater / easier formatting of numbers. For example, I have a simple sales table showing YTD sales v target which run in to millions and I want to show in thousands as there's a lot of other big numbers in the table and I want to do away with some clutter. The fact I have to add in new columns and write DAX to change each column is far too time consuming. We should be able to do this via the modelling and format options at the click on the button. Such a shame because my first reports have had a warm welcome from the Management team but I cant fully publish until I get this layout corrected.

RE: Number formatting

I'm an accountant and in all of our Excel based reports we prefer to have negative numbers in brackets and in red. This is a fairly common practice.

The flexibility of Excel number formatting is great. We need this in Power BI
