Currently we have an option to publish reports to web.. publicly shared.. If only we could also have an option to limit the sharing of the reports in web by providing emails or access token to view the published report for web

RE: Power BI - Publish to Web

Considering this product's purpose, the entire notion of having publicly shared reports w/out private or embedded reports first is baffling.

So your options are use 100% internal (and build a BI infrastructure to support) or publish only useless information. Sounds like the team that developed this business model is the same one in charge of MS Office U.I.

Not to mention the fact that many of us want to use Power BI for creating external customer reports as well as internal reports.

If I own a business that does any kind of work on behalf of a customer, there are always subsets of data that need to be reported to each of those customers.

Think of a shipping company. I have 400 customers I'm shipping on behalf of sure I need to capture my costs/charges, and show reports to the CEO. But I also need to let each of my customers know (by customer) how many trucks went out, day/time costs etc..

Power BI is the perfect tool to deliver this data, but I can't just drop BI information into a customer portal page and go, and I can't force my customers into BI and Buy a Sharepoint license for every internet user.

(And yes, Tableau does all this w/out any hassles out of the box)

This is how Tableau works and they are your major competitor. To not have this is insane.

I agree! Or a way to limit the pages (URL) that the embed code (iFrame) can be viewed through. This way it could be limited to sites where security can be controlled.
