It would be very useful a functionality for insert query prompt in order
not to extract an entire table if you only need a subset of it.
Se we would like to have the possibility to insert a variable "where"
from a prompt or from a cell of the spreadsheet

RE: query 'prompts' for variable
Hi, I think I understand the idea.. and also think it would be great to have it.To me its quite close to the parameters itself - so I elaborated a bit more in my idea: Microsoft Idea (powerbi.com)If you think it's worthy please vote there too.Cheers!
RE: query 'prompts' for variable
I'd like to be able to put prompt filters in my reports, in order to force the user to make filters before opening the report. It's very useful functionality, that we see in other BI tools (like MicroStrategy, for instance), but its missing in Power BI. It works like a form, that is shown when the user opens the report. In the form, the user has to choose values for the displayed dimensions, like date, city, network element, etc... After all forms filled, the report is executed with the choosen filters applied.
RE: query 'prompts' for variable
same problem here. Our fact tables have millions of rows and I'm not able to use power Bi desktop for that amount of data. Pre filtering via prompts is crucial. Any ideas?
RE: query 'prompts' for variable
I can't understand by now why is not possible in power bi web to have parameters to be displayed before data refresh ... Because I have billions of row in my fact table for two years of sales ...
RE: query 'prompts' for variable
Anyone have update on this?
We will have millions of data in my HANA Views and this dynamic filtering before data fetched is very important for us.
MSTR, SAP BO, SSRS and many other Reporting tools have dynamic filtering functionality and they call it as Prompts.
Please advise if this is already implemented or will be implemented in near future.
