Hi all,

in this community post someone placed the same issue which I have also observed in November 2023.

Please refer to this post:

https://community.fabric.microsoft.com/t5/Service/RLS-Test-as-Role-view-reports-in-different-workspaces/m-p/3468133

I 100% can agree the oberservation. Sometime ago in Summer 2023 this beautiful feature was introduce where you could test the RLS function in the PowerBi Service, while Dataset was in Workspace A and the Reports were in Workspace B or C or D or n.

Since the last September Release: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-september-2023-feature-summary/#post-24646-_Toc145515972 this is gone foreever.

Whyyyy???? Was is it not an best practice to split Datasets and Reports in seprate Workspaces?

Thank you in advance. I hope someone will deliver any further informations on it.

RE: Bring RLS Test as Role: view reports in different workspaces back!!

The test as role option have a workspace list giving the impression that it works across workspaces, I think it's quite normal that a data model is shared out to owners who build off it in there own workspace, they then contact me with permissions issues and it's impossible to test. Please enable cross workspace test as role.
