    Unable to Change the Replace the Live Connection Dataset with the PowerBI Premium Dataset

    I have published a PBIX "LiveConnectSSAS" that use Analysis Service Connector to connect to an On-Prem SSAS Model. I have built many reports that connect to the PowerBI Dataset "LiveConnectSSAS".

    Now I want to move to PowerBI Premium where my SSAS Model is moved to PowerBI Premium Workspace and I want to replace the connection in the "LiveConnectSSAS" dataset with the PowerBI Premium Workspace Model/Dataset. So that, all the connect reports remain unaffected.
    UNABLE TO DO SO.

    I have tried 2 ways.

    1. Updating the PBIX "LiveConnectSSAS" Analysis Service Connection String to PowerBI Premium Workspace Connection (which looks something likes "powerbi://api.powerbi.com/v1.0/myorg/xxxModel" ). PBIX is able to connect it to PBI Premium Workspace Model, BUT while PUBLISHing the PBIX to replace the existing "LiveConnectSSAS", it gives an error
    "There is an existing report/dataset with the same name. Please delete or rename the existing dataset and retry"

    2. I have used the HotSwap external tool on the PBIX file to swap the LiveConnector with the PowerBI dataset Connector to use PBI Premium Model Dataset. It works fine Locally BUT if I publish the PBIX to the same workspace, the PowerBI Service has 2 datasets with the same name different Datasources.


    Please share a solution, as I am 70+ reports dependant on the dataset and I am unable to replace this dataset with the new PowerBI Premium Connection.

    I have a similar issue where we are looking at simplying the number of data sets in our premium workspaces by creating one dataset that multiple report read from by migrating a report from connecting live to SSAS cubes to a Dataset in the service. Having issues using Hot Swap as it does not launch.
