Allow user to set column widths en masse. Ideally for each variable. For instance, I have sales and market share for each of ten years. If I am not good with the auto set width, rather than having to manually modify the width for each year, I should be able to either enter a width for the field OR manually change one and have the other years follow suit. Either would be helpful, rather than visually setting the widths and hoping I have them equal.

RE: Set Column Widths
Madness this has never been implemented. I just don't understand. It's been the number one thing I've been wanting for years and years. Neither myself nor my customers want variably width-ed columns on a matrix or table. It creates visual noise. It's bad. .... let alone having things then RE-size when someone drills down, so they have to spend time figuring out what has only changed visually and what has changed numerically. I have already wasted far far too much of my lifetime resizing columns to be evenly spaced. Only for it to all be lost when I change the measure on the viz. This is so very obvious.
RE: Set Column Widths
7 years on from the start of this idea (read NECESSITY). And still totally ignored by MS. The only conclusion that you can draw is that either MS don't actually use Power BI themselves, or that they've never come up with a column heading longer than 10 characters.Table and matrix visualisations are long overdue a huge overhaul.
RE: Set Column Widths
5 years on, multiple merged requests, still not implemented. Why does PBI cost so much again? Is all that money *really* going into development of the software? Was moving a few slicer settings from a dropdown menu to the visualizations settings really more important than something like this?
RE: Set Column Widths
I see a lot of comments in the internet regarding locking the column width in matrix. But I am surprised that the vote count is so low. This is a basic requirement.I spent days trying to fix this issue but I can't find a solution to it. I have to manually resize the matrix in my report and republish the app on a daily basis. You can imagine how annoying this is.If I have set the "Auto-size width" option under column header to "off", I don't understand why PBI still auto-size the matrix columns when values in the matrix are updated. If the matrix table is a 5-column matrix, then the width of the 5 columns should be locked if "Auto-size width" option is set to "off". To me, this is standard logic.PBI team, this request is not new so please consider this request and work on it soonest possible.
RE: Set Column Widths
A lot of column width customization options are available in Inforiver, check out this video.
RE: Set Column Widths
If you have a matrix with quite a few columns, it is a PAINFUL process to try and set the columns to the same width. I would like to see a way, in the Format > Grid section, to set a default column width. I would also like to have the ability to customize at column/field level (Example: if you have 5 columns all set to 20 pixels each).
RE: Set Column Widths
Can we get the ability to a) customize column widths based on all column widths and/or b) set a specific column width for all columns and/or c) automatic column width based on the width of the table as set on the page?
A) Based on All Columns example:
Column titles are "Really long title" and "Short". I would like to set all columns to the greatest width, so "Short" would be same width as "Really long title"
B) Based on Set Width example:
I would like to set the width for all columns, any shorter will be set to that width and any longer will word wrap if set for that
C) Based on Table example:
Regardless of how wide I pull the overall table on the canvas/page I would like to be able to tell the columns to fill the space so each column is of equal width as needed
