Allow the viewer role to copy reports in a new workspace to another new workspace. I do not want to give the user contributor role because I do not want them contributing to the workspace but they can copy reports from the space and make them their own in spaces they have permissions to do so. I have given the viewer role user build and reshare permissions on the data set but it still does not allow them to copy the report to another workspace.

I think this is bigger by having the ability for organizations to adjust the default role permissions. For example, some organizations might want to allow viewers to download reports from a workspace or save a copy to their personal workspace.

We need a similar PowerBI User role for our Organization. This would need to be a "Consumer" role between Viewer and Contributor, where users can do everything as Viewers plus being able to "Save a Copy" of the report, without the "Edit" report option the Contributor role offers. Therefore, keeping the integrity of the original report.

Hi Cherie, Were you able to figure out a solution for this?I agree with you as i don't want users to be a contributor on my workspace and be able to publish in this workspace just to give them ability to copy a report to different workspace. I think this is a permissions flaw in PBI.

Hi Bobby,Are you saying if a user do not have access to workspace and i share a report with build permission, user can open the report through that link and then copy the report to a different workspace?Thanks in advance for your response.Raj

The idea is to protect the workspace and its content from users - editing report or create multiple copies within this protected workspace. Hence a 'viewer' permission is given to all users. However, if edit/build permission is given at the report level, user should be able to directly access report from workspace and allow to save report their personal workspace.Currently this is only achievable if user access report via the URL generated by 'share' function, not directly from workspace.
