Synching is great, but forces you to have synched slicers on the other pages taking up valuable space. Would like to have a single report config page when you set your global slicers, and chose the pages to filter, even if they do not have the same slicer on them.

I don't think you are correct. You can choose to display it or not. See this youtube video relating to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXHDmlJqwss&feature=youtu.be. You can choose to display a slicer or not.
