Hi,

We have built some custom themes using the PBIT format but notice that it has limitations in being tied to Power BI desktop and not distributable to report creators in the Power BI Service. As there is now a plethora of new file formats (PBIP, PBIR, TMDL) in Fabric, it makes sense that theming should also move away from Desktop and be fully integrated into the service.

We'd like to see the ability to create a custom theme that is fully compatible with the latest CI/CD and source control capabilities that can be distributed to end users to use as a standard starting template when building content with existing semantic models directly from the Power BBI/Fabric service interface.

I've attached an example PBIT that we built that aims to tackle accessibilty by dynamically switching between light and dark modes (Bear i mind we are imited in what we can do here due to limitations on functions for various report elements but it gives a good idea of where we and our users ideally want to get to). Basically if we can get to a point where PBIT is available, editable and deployable directly in the service without any reliance on Desktop, that's where we want to be!

Please upvote this if you have similar requirements. I would imagine a lot of users and devs would like this functionality!

Cheers,

Luke

Can't seem to add a PBIX file here, sorry!
