Datazen's ability to import ArcGIS shape files for Geographic data sets would be ideal.

RE: Import ARCGis Shape files
We have also started to get questions about importing shape files from ArcGIS into Power BI.
Found these as I am exploring:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/visuals/power-bi-visualizations-arcgis
https://doc.arcgis.com/en/maps-for-powerbi/get-started/about-maps-for-power-bi.htm
RE: Import ARCGis Shape files
I already have shape files zipped into a folder with all other file format, such as .cpg, .dbf, .prj, .sbn, .sbx, .shp & .shx. I see that I can actually log into my ArcGIS account from PowerBI but can't see anything other than the fact that says that I am logged into my ArcGIS account.
RE: Import ARCGis Shape files
Bummer to see this idea created May 26th 2015. Its 3 years later June 6th 2018. Shape file integration would be amazing!
RE: Import ARCGis Shape files
The shp to topojson to Power BI has been frustrating. My shapefile works everywhere, the converted topojson works everywhere except Power Bi. As Jason said, Power BI needs better shape file integration.
RE: Import ARCGis Shape files
Power BI should be able to natively ingest Shapefiles as well as KML and geoJson format ideally it should be able to support the geography / geometry datatype natively without requiring access to ESRI Map Layers, adding these capabilities couple with R support will unlock many spatial statistics and spatial analysis scenarios
RE: Import ARCGis Shape files
It is a shame that Power BI has been promoting its new 'Shape' map. Unfortunately, it's just a map layer.
Power BI needs to allow users to upload Shape Layers that can include any definitions such as landmarks, roads. Basically any vector shape.
