Allow the "R script visual" to display any of the htmlwidgets for R shown in this gallery: http://gallery.htmlwidgets.org/ For example, both plotly and dygraphs would be very powerful.
After speaking to Microsoft tech support they said, "This is by design, we do not support libraries that don't plot to the default plotting device. We are working on R documentation and updated it to reflect this information."
They also suggested I post this idea here to see if others would find this feature useful if implemented.

This would be helpful. In the mean time, it is possible to make Plotly graphics as a custom visual. Instructions here:

It would be nice for this function to be available more immediately through the R Script visual option, rather than requiring the additional complications of making a custom visual.
