When you develop complex data models and reports, it's common to switch frequently back and forth between the Report, Data and Model views.

Having support for multiple monitors would enable to Power BI developers to use secondary (or third) monitor to simultaneously and seamlessly work across these views.

RE: Support for multi-monitor in Power BI Desktop

Microsoft supports that in so many of their development software and it makes things so much harder for me to not have this.

I'm used to Visual Studio or SQL Server Management Studio. Having one window with my custom class definition and another with code using the class, or one window with the select statements and another with the stored procedure I'm working on.

In Power BI, working with either M or DAX always sucks for me...

"How did I calculate that DAX column again?"

*close what I am working on*

*Open the DAX for the column or table*

*find the part of the code with the formula I need*

*Copy it*

*close that column or table definition*

*open what I was working on before*

*find the portion of the code I was working on*

"What was I even doing again?"

Were we able to have multiple windows, I could just open the definition I was looking for on a new window and never lose track of the code I was working on.

Agreed, in addition would be great to be able to see various side panes (Visualizations, Fields, Bookmarks, etc) in a secondary monitor. This would allow users to keep the main Report pane at full screen. Could be accomplished by allowing popping out of panes.

I have already researched a lot on this and share a guide on https://mesheble.com/ but I faced lot of issues while implementing it.

I often have this need and my work around is to save another copy of the PBIX file and then open that up on the second monitor. Not very efficient.

A simple thing like being able to move the dax editor panel to a second monitor would be time-saving.

Yes, I agree with you. However, if things can be written in a different window it would be awesome, when every I work like this I face a lot of problems.https://www.ritecoupons.com/

Yes, I think many will agree including myself. In fact, if measures can be written in a separate window would be great, because it tends to obstruct the main working window view.
