Currently in the report server you are only allowed to group the reports based on folder structures, which we are using currently to manage also the permission needed to access the reports, but what we want as the we want to keep managing the permission based on folder structure but we want to view the reports based on different categorize and sub-categorize,

The reason for this is that you want to manage the permission of reports in a different way than organizing the reports.

we have like 700+ SSRS reports, and it is difficult to tie the permission structure with the categorization structure of the reports

Any Update on this, I cannot organize 1000+ reports to different users based on the permission structure, this feature will help solve that

RE: Add the ability to categorize reports with virtual categories beside the folder structure

just to clarify more the idea,
currently we are achieving this through sharepoint custom columns, we are creating category for the reports in that column, and we built a custom a view to list the reports by categorize irrespective from there location in the folders.
