Currently, Power BI reports with R scripts in Power Query and hosted on service require setup of personal gateway. This is an issue when the developer is on leave and his personal gateway is not online. Requesting support or R scripts in Power Query without use of Personal Gateway (similar to the way R visuals hosted on service dont require personal gateway setup)

RE: R in Power Query without using personal gateway

Agreed. Enterprise reports can't rely on a specific user's laptop to function and add unnecessary security risk.

In our current use case, all that is needed is to run a few RegEx's to sanitize email addresses etc, so it's fairly simply stuff that just isn't currently supported natively. Doesn't seem to be any architectural reason that the sandbox designed for visuals couldn't be used for data ingestions?

RE: R in Power Query without using personal gateway

Hi Microsoft Team,
Refreshing reports containing R script on the service is a must to make this functionality more than a gadget. Until now we had a workaround by using a Personal gateway installed on a windows server (not perfect as the Personal gateway is not as stable as the on-premises one, but it was still working).
However, since the Gateway update from 24 Oct.2018 (3000.0.144.3) even this is not working anymore!!! We don’t understand if there was a bug with this version, or this is an intended behaviour, which would be very irrational as we understood that Ms wants to push these R/Python integrations further
Please give us more visibility on your development plans!
Thanks
