Yes - this is really needed! How such a simple thing is not yet available given all the work-arounds people are having to implement is beyond comprehension.

This is absolutely needed. In Finance, users want to see figures for a given quarter, with YTD and PY comparison. The current slicer only defines a from-to-period, which is not suitable for such a scenario.
The date picker visual must define one date, DAX functions such as ENDOFYEAR, PREVIOUSYEAR or SAMEPERIODLASTYEAR should work, the card visual must be able to show the date selected in the Date Picker.
Also, the Date Picker should show a calendar allowing the user to choose a day, with TODAY() as default value, with arrows to show next/previous quarter or year.

This is needed for all as at a specific date reports. The list option is too long, and the before or after act as a range.

This is a basic feature, we really need it, for our users sake !
