Power BI Can't access streaming data sets from OneDrive & Sharepoint when MFA is enabled. Premier Support advised "OAuth against Azure Active Directory with Multi Factor Authentication turned on is unsupported at current stage"

How is it mid 2021 and Microsoft still has not fixed this? General guidance from Microsoft is to enable mfa (duh, cyber attacks and ransomware are commonplace), however this breaks Power BI completely when trying to use a scheduled refresh. Please tell me how MS expects PBI to become a 'citizen developer' tool for all users, when any org who cares about security can't allow users to enable a scheduled refresh, even with data sources inside the MS domain. This is absolutely ridiculous, and an incredible lack of foresight. Our team is strongly considering moving to another BI platform as Microsoft has made zero indication from what we can tell that this will ever be addressed.

This is a HUGE gaping hole for clients that need to connect into another domain using MFA and/or a PIV/CAC through other services like a BigIP F5. I have clients desperately wanting to adopt PowerBI for its self service capabilities (large DoD entities) while it is awaiting funding to migrate to Azure, but they are stopped by the lack of this capability.

In all prior forms of SharePoint we were able to connect through the smartcard/CAC authentication. Now we can only do so using a desktop application and not any of the power apps. We now have less capability using SharePoint than ever before.

this doesnt work when connecting to the Azure DevOps data source either, making Power BI useless. How is it that we still don't have a fix for this after several years, when its all MS products, and yet the recommended secure authenticaiton method BY MICROSOFT is not supported by a MICROSOFT app who's whole purpose is to connect to other apps and access their data?

Please fix this as soon as possible. Power BI scheduled refresh under my account give error because of MFA.

So, to get around this, we had to write some C# code to invoke the API's to retrieve the required data. Unfortunately this was then seized upon by our Tableau team to provide the requisite reports. No problem; it was a small customer; just the U.S. Navy.
