Adding support for JDBC data sources would allow for integration with databases other than SQL Server.

Also in healthcare informatics. Lack of JDBC support is greatly hindering our full transition to PowerBI from Tableau. Thank you!

You're not keeping anyone from using JDBC, or succeeding in locking people into ODBC. You're just making people use ODBC-JDBC bridges and develop hardcore grudges against MS for fighting JDBC in their entire stack of products.

Connecting to Graph Databases would be so much easier with a JDBC Driver. Neo4j connections would be a snap.
