The changes made in April 2023 update to the Service has seen the Workspace Object List a list of black and white text, and simple black and white icons for all objects.

This has made it very difficult for user experience (UX) to find what they are looking for almost hiding objects.

The previous version before the update had:

  • different colours to distinguish different object types - This was a very quick indictor of the object and worked really well
  • a tab for Content only or all object types - This was great for most users that only want to consume reports and will never work with Dataset etc.
  • Filters that stayed on even if you leave the page and return - the new filter resets everytime you leave the page and have to filter again and again

Im not asking for a revert exactly but a better UX in finding content you're interesting in very quickly in Workspaces (no just by filtering), the current simple black and white text and icons is not enough for most users, even as an advanced user im wasting time looking for things that was previously very quick to identify

RE: Revert Workspace Object list UI

The new UI is a total disaster. The icon is meanless; there are more steps to filter to reports only. When you have many reports, datasets, etc. in one workspace, this UI is very frustrating.

Agree with prior comments. The icons are too similar - they provide no help in separating the object types. And the filter way over on the left side is a poor replacement for the tabs that allowed for selecting which objects to display.

Microsoft, please enlighten us on how this UI change was ever considered to be an improvement...

RE: Revert Workspace Object list UI

Please revert to the previous version as this is very difficult to use or at least provide an option to customize as each tenant see fit.

This interface is very hard to use! Please revert back or at least add in some color distinctions between datasets and reports.

This went away for a while but now it is back!Microsoft, please consider to go back to old look and feel. I can't imagine anyone likes this new look. It looks horrible...

The new UI is regressing a product that's already several years behind to 2009.

Impossible to quickly glance at and distinguish different types of content. All just one bland page of grey wireframe on white background. High-use buttons should be colored (update app for example), and content should be easily distinguishable.

Absolutely insane that this got through UAT. Terrible UX, i can't imagine anyone truly thinking this was a good idea.

RE: Revert Workspace Object list UI

Shouldn't even be a discussion. Roll back the change and fire anyone who thought this was a UI improvement and approved this.
