This is a repost of my idea that was closed as completed, but the 'relative date slicer doesn't allow any of the described request hence my idea is not implemented....

The new date slicer is awesome, but it would be so nice if you could set a dynamic date selection instead of a static. With a static filter the user will always have to set the dates before the saved report makes sense - especially as the report gets older.

Dynamic options could be
YTD, QTD, MTD, WTD, Today, This Year, This Quarter, This Month, This Week and so on.

The relative date slicer (a Preview feature as of June '17) gets us close to this with the 'This Month' or 'This Year' settings. That is a dynamic date selection that updates based on the current system date. We plan to add a 'YTD'/'MTD' option to specifically select a range from the start of the month/year up to today, hopefully that'll address the remaining requirements!

RE: Dynamic Date Slicer (improve relative date slicer)

I am not sure if this will affect the relative date filter or not but if so, please add an AND/OR option to the relative date filter. This comes up all the time with my users. They want to see 8 weeks in the past and all future dates for an order file as an example. They use the relative date a lot on graphs for dashboards where you want to see where we have been at the same time where we are going which we are currently not able to do with a relative date filter.

I would like to see relative Date Filters based on Quarter, e.g. This Quarter, Last X Quarters, Next Quarter, Next X Quarters etc.

RE: Dynamic Date Slicer (improve relative date slicer)

I'd like to be able to filter for quarters, including:
This quarter (QTD)
Last # quarters
QTD plus previous # quarters

Would also be great to be able to select historical and future dates at the same time.

would be useful when looking at overdue items and items about to become overdue.

RE: Dynamic Date Slicer (improve relative date slicer)

Please allow the option for the end-user to also select an anchor date. We have use cases where user might want to see performance of 2 prior quarters to say Mar 31st ... if the date filter is of relative type - there is no way the end-use can do that. Besides adding YTD/MTD, etc. please also let the end-user select the anchor date (just as a report author can right now).

Can you also add support for fiscal date slicing? This is pretty fundamental in the corporate world.

RE: Dynamic Date Slicer (improve relative date slicer)

Is there a way to start from the first of the month when selecting "Last" in the relative date slicer instead of the same day as today?

Example:
Today is SEP 16, 2018
Selection = "Last 1 Year"
Desired output = Dates start from "Sep 1, 2017" instead of "Sep 16, 2017".

RE: Dynamic Date Slicer (improve relative date slicer)

Should add a function in the relative date slicer to have a non continuous date range like comparing months/quarters on a YoY basis
