Add "Centered" as an option for Data Label positions when making line graphs(Existing choices are Auto, Above, Under). This would center the label to be on the marker for line graphs and allow the marker to serve as the background.
With multiple line graphs, Auto will often put the lower value above and the higher value below when set to auto and omits the data label for nearby values when using either above or below.
This option is available in Tableau and was our preferred method to minimize visual clutter.
