Now that we have pbit files to help create new pbix files quickly it would be great to be able to automate this process.
Perhaps we could have some Powershell commands that would allow you to pass the needed parameters and output a new pbix file.

This is a very problematic issue. We are working with a multi-national client and this is killing Power BI's reputation at this customer as complications around this have brought the project to a crawl.Basically it takes forever to deploy an update because the file must be loaded with data first.

Can we get an update on this? This is needed for obvious CI/CD reasons. There is no point in storing 100's of MB of data in our source control tooling. Does Microsoft even git? Not sure why we have to explain source control to Microsoft.

We really need to automate the process of publishing the PBIT file to the service (whether through converting to PBIX or directly). How many votes do we need to promote this idea?

Can't believe this isn't a feature yet in 2023 - would be very helpful for automation of Powershell deployments and easy version control.

We run a script-based version management of our server-based PowerBI reports..Currently, we rely on downloading and holding the full PBIX files (i.e. with all data).This takes up an unnecessary amount of disk space with more than 160 reports.Version management only requires the data model, not the actual data.Therefore, a download option for PBIT files from the server would be very useful here!

Our DBA only wants us posting PBIT files into devops due to potential GDPR Issues. So the facility to convery PBIT to PBIX and vice versa on the fly would be beneficial

Also checking for updates. Anything?? Giant functionality gap preventing us from recommending/using pbi service for many client projects.

Badly needed to automate report deployment. Can not believe this is still not possible in 2022.

This should have been done long time ago to enable automated deployments. Any updates ?
