Add option to collapse "Get started with a task flow" panel

However, the Get started with a task flow panel currently occupies significant screen real estate, even after users have created task flows. This panel can obstruct the view of the task flow diagram, hindering users from fully utilizing the workspace. For users who frequently work with complex task flows, the persistent panel becomes a distraction and reduces the efficiency of navigating and editing their workflows.

Benefits:

• Maximized Workspace: Removing or allowing the panel to be collapsed would free up valuable screen space, enabling users to view their task flows without unnecessary obstructions.

• Enhanced User Experience: A cleaner interface would reduce distractions, making it easier for users to focus on designing and managing their task flows.

• Improved Efficiency: Users can work more efficiently when the interface is streamlined, potentially increasing productivity and reducing frustration.

• Adaptability: By displaying the panel only to new users or those who haven’t created a task flow yet, the interface can adapt to the user’s experience level, providing guidance when needed and stepping back when not.

• Redundant Information: For users who are already familiar with task flows or have existing ones, the panel provides little to no additional value.

Proposal:

I propose that the Get started with a task flow panel in the task flow diagram interface should be modified to enhance usability:

• Conditional Display: The panel should only be displayed to users who have not yet created a task flow, providing guidance when it is most needed.

• Collapsible Panel: Add a collapse or hide button to the panel, allowing users to dismiss it when they no longer need it, and perhaps access it again from a help or info icon if necessary.

• Persistent Setting: Remember the user’s choice to hide or collapse the panel across sessions, so it does not reappear unnecessarily.

By implementing these changes, Fabric can provide a more intuitive and efficient interface that adapts to the user’s needs, improving the overall experience.
