I have volumes of information to share with my teams that is best presented in tables and matrices. It would be a huge improvement if they were able to export the data from the visualizations and have the formatting in Excel match the formatting created within PowerBI.

This would be especially helpful for ongoing forecasting activities.

Here's the solution.

BI Helper Matrix - Chrome extension to export matrix and table visuals in Power BI to Excel. Retains visual formatting and matrix data pivots. Works with all tables and 2 x 2 (row x column) matrix drill-downs.

I'd also like to express my disappointment that this doesn't exist.

One of my favorite things to do is create a bunch of export tabs because users can't export in whatever drill view they are viewing.

Every other BI tool I have used, Oracle OAC, OBI, Busines Objects etc. all have the option to choose formatted or raw data export. Come on MS, it does not look good when you can't match functionality that has been available for 20+ years in other BI tools.

Una vergüenza que luego de tantos años, esta opción tan básica no haya sido atendida y resuelta

This is pretty basic, @microsoft! Many "business users" would like an ability to go beyond just the "pretty visual" which would mean exporting to excel. SAP Business Objects very easily provide this as a basic feature and so does few other reporting tools such as Tableau.

Basic functionality that should be there.

we are evaluating moving from QlikView to PowerBI and this is the biggest detractor right now. QlikView exports the table to Excel exactly as displayed, retaining all the formatting.

We are just rolling out Power Bi company wide to users and this is the most requested feature that they want. Try explaining that Power Bi does not offer this and they immediately jump to the conclusion that Power Bi just wont cut it to be the Analytic tool of choice. Microsoft has to do something about this irrespective of how many votes its gets for that functionality or not

Please! it is a very important request! Data are to be managed, transformed, evaluated, tested, forecasted... making beautiful reports but not to be able to share "usable" data with the management means the refusal of PowerBI !
