I have volumes of information to share with my teams that is best presented in tables and matrices. It would be a huge improvement if they were able to export the data from the visualizations and have the formatting in Excel match the formatting created within PowerBI.
This would be especially helpful for ongoing forecasting activities.

RE: Allow Table and Matrix Data Exports to Match PowerBI Visual
I manage a report team that provides information toa sales Department (aprox.100 people), at all levels of the hierarchy. They all want dashboards, but also the data in excel to make some analysis of their own. This feature is very important, or we will have in many cases to stick to excel based reports.

Please, please tell me this is coming soon. Please!
I currently am rolling out Power BI and people really like the look of the report in the service but when they export it to excel it completely changes the look of it. Also being able to export to PDF would be great.
RE: Allow Table and Matrix Data Exports to Match PowerBI Visual
This feature really helps the customer to get the exact view in excel as in power bi, to proceed their task further.
RE: Allow Table and Matrix Data Exports to Match PowerBI Visual
As Mike notes on Wade's comment, ditto for our company. We'd really appreciate a solution given Microsoft owns the whole suite in scope for this requested feature.
This is the #1 most complained about issue with our Power BI implementation. Every time my users go to export data to excel they escalate to me and tell me Power BI has a bug and isn't working. I have to explain to them that this is "As Intended", though this is far from what I intend this functionality to do
RE: Allow Table and Matrix Data Exports to Match PowerBI Visual
The lack of a proper export is a huge roadblock to adoption of Power BI in my organization. Getting very frustrating to explain why we (IT) can't fix it. We have many detailed drill down tables that users are trying to export summarized data from. It is difficult to explain that the "intended" behavior is to export the expanded hierarchy view, which takes it over the limit of rows that can be exported.
It is also annoying that the time out for the export is not communicated to the user.
RE: Allow Table and Matrix Data Exports to Match PowerBI Visual
Some users are hard to convert to anything else except Excel.
RE: Allow Table and Matrix Data Exports to Match PowerBI Visual
My guess is that they won't do it because they want consumers of the reports to have to buy a PowerBI Pro license to view the reports. If they allow them to be exported as they are, then viewers would not have to buy the license as well. I agree, this kills my use case if we are not able to create the relationships and get the data back out in the same view to create actionable tasks from the data.
RE: Allow Table and Matrix Data Exports to Match PowerBI Visual
When is this happening?
RE: Allow Table and Matrix Data Exports to Match PowerBI Visual
Wade's comment is the exact same for my company. It's getting exhausting explaining why it won't export like they see it in Power BI. Any chance of understanding if this is even on the road map?

RE: Allow Table and Matrix Data Exports to Match PowerBI Visual
yes, please. While many of us can quickly whip up a pivot table to match the display that was in the matrix, it is an unnecessary waste of time when summarized data needs to be shared with other user(s) with less technical knowledge and/or without access to Power BI.
