I have volumes of information to share with my teams that is best presented in tables and matrices. It would be a huge improvement if they were able to export the data from the visualizations and have the formatting in Excel match the formatting created within PowerBI.

This would be especially helpful for ongoing forecasting activities.

RE: Allow Table and Matrix Data Exports to Match PowerBI Visual

(Thanks for your feedback on this issue - while we'd like to enable this, there is currently no timetable around doing so. There is the option as a workaround the create a paginated view as a drillthrough of the visual and have a formatted version you can export to Excel, but understand this isn't a solution everyone can take advantage of currently.)

This is an absolutely crazy statement from a sales perspective... who do you think approve the deployment of PowerBi within their corporation? The very people that would like this very user friendly feature...
Next thing you know they ask you to switch reporting tool because "there is currently no timetable around doing so"

Pathetic. Wasting our time waiting for Power Bi Dev Team to action this. Its very odd though that it does not show up in the top 10 anymore with the number of votes. Its like they trying hide it from users. Very disappointing. The reason for us posting these ideas is to make your product a much better one. 5000+ Votes should be more then enough votes to start development on this.

RE: Allow Table and Matrix Data Exports to Match PowerBI Visual

Was wondering why this is no longer in the Top ideas? As other have stated how many votes does this need for this to be implemented? We have come from another reporting tool which exports to Excel perfectly - we are bemused why PowerBI could not do this. We have spent hours with the data in excel because of this.

This is literally the number one issue with PBI. I can't help but believe, the reason for it's absence is to ensure there are no "work arounds" to ensuring all report viewers are correctly licensed. Sadly, this hurts those that are doing the right thing the most.

Salesforce report export options will export a matrix/pivot table report to Excel and keep the formatting. We've been building out more Salesforce reports and exporting them from there.

With over 5,000 votes in favor, why is this no longer listed among "Top Ideas"? As Jamie asked on 11/02, how many votes does this need, Microsoft? I'm tired of telling our users that they can't simply copy and paste a matrix into Excel as it appears within PBI. Microsoft, please give us this functionality.

RE: Allow Table and Matrix Data Exports to Match PowerBI Visual

Following up on my comment a few moments ago, I searched the internet and found another forum that had a link to Power BI Ideas. It took me to a Power BI Ideas thread titled "Allow Table and Matrix Exports to Match Power BI Visual" and shows 5,025 votes with comments as recent as 11/05/2020. As Jamie asked on 11/02, "how many votes does this need?". With over 5,000 in favor of it, why is this topic not listed among "Top Ideas". For all of you posting in favor within this thread, go out to the link below and see all of the comments there. Unfortunately, if Microsoft won't listen to 5,000+ votes in the other thread, I doubt they're going to listen to the 50 or so votes here.

RE: Allow Table and Matrix Data Exports to Match PowerBI Visual

Until just recently, this topic was listed elsewhere on this forum and had a long list of comments in favor of it and had one of the highest vote totals (I think it was around 5,000 votes). Despite all of those votes, Microsoft said it "Needs Votes", just as it does here. I previously posted in favor of having this option, and I just came back to check its status and that particular topic appears to have been removed along with the many, many votes that people had for it. Microsoft, was it removed or am I overlooking it? We are replacing our current BI tool with Power BI, and everyone loves it - UNTIL I HAVE TO TELL THEM HOW THE EXPORT WORKS! This is a problem, Microsoft. It's ridiculous to dump all of the underlying data into Excel and and expect the users to recreate the calculations that already exist in PBI. PLEASE give us this functionality in Power BI.

This is very important! And we have no ways to fix. Please implement this.

I will definitely recommend Qlikview, this is too essential for end users who work with a lot of data
