Hi, I have used Powerview extensively. Pivot table connected to a Tabular Model is today the best available tool for pivoting. Nothing to beat it. howevere powerview and pivot tables are not integrated to each other, i.e. they do not share the same parameters. The filters I have selected in Powerview shold also filter (optionally) a pivot table also.

Over the last few months, we've made a lot of progress on a new matrix visual that supports cross-highlighting, stepped layouts and drill. Learn more about the new matrix preview here: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-desktop-matrix-visual/

RE: Integrate Powerbi with Pivot tables

'@Will - Pivot Table like functionality is critical inside the Power BI offering. Clients are so used to interacting with data in this way that they want the visualizations and dashboarding that PowerBI offers PLUS the more familiar PivotTables (especially helpful for large reports)

RE: Integrate Powerbi with Pivot tables

Our company is in this business with ODBO connectors for the desktop Excel and we are constantly asked about PowerPivot/Power BI tech. We really see everybody wants pivot tables in the online version of Excel. We do this already through SharePoint but we don’t have a pure cloud-backed solution. This will be a killer application for us. For the designers of the product: Don’t forget that 90% of the Excel-based accountants do their work through pivots.

I don't understand why more people are not voting for this. Having pivottable like functionality would be awesome.

RE: Integrate Powerbi with Pivot tables

When I first saw PowerBI.com, I thought that it might be replacing Power BI for Office 365, but maybe that's not the case.

If Power BI for Office 365 is something that will continue to live on, maybe that's the place for pivot tables.

RE: Integrate Powerbi with Pivot tables

It will be great to have some documentation at least to know how to use pivot functionality with PowerBI table. Otherwise, the users will need to switch between 2 tools.

RE: Integrate Powerbi with Pivot tables

My interpretation is that PowerBI should be an OLAP source for Pivot Tables in Excel. This is a must have. Even better if the pivot tables could be rendered in PowerBI, but Excel and Excel Services would be fine.

RE: Integrate Powerbi with Pivot tables

It would be great to have Pivot table functionality - I have many calculated fields that I do within Excel in my pivot table, conditional formatting, the whole 9. I'm not sure how to implement that in my data table that my PowerBI view pulls from.

RE: Integrate Powerbi with Pivot tables

Having Pivot Tables in Power BI (especially PoverPivot functionality) is definitely a huge feature. That would beat out almost any other solution out there that's available.
