We should be notified when there is a new version of both gateways. In addition, the Enterprise gateway should be updated automatically (admins should be able to turn this on/off).

For those looking for an option today, you can use the service recovery options for the gateway service to send an email on service start failures. Several examples online using PowerShell and VBA. You can also create a simple check service script and run that using the event scheduler.

One of our gateway was silently down for days and we came to know only after user reported that there is a issue in loading the schema with below error message. Also data refresh didnt happen on time. This will be a major issue if not noticed on time. There should be a option to notify server admin when the On premise gateway server is not up and running.

We later restarted the service and it worked fine.

This feature would help us a lot. Taking actions when the service is down instead of when the refresh has failed.

This feature is a critical need for my company as well. We have Azure Enterprise subscription and Analysis Services refresh failed multiple times without any error being reported by the exception handler in PowerShell automation Runbook.
Microsoft Support for the service request also could not provide a solution to get notifications about gateway failure until this feature is added to the Power BI Gateway

we performed monitoring on Services for DataGateway and set it up with delayed start. Still this will be great addition if we get notification.

This is a critical need. Currently the only way to get a notification is when the gateway fails and we start getting Power BI refresh failures.

Now that we have a cluster, need the notifications on a node basis.
