Matrix/Table visuals column widths set to auto adjust should do so as you scroll up, down, left and right for the visual in the report.

You can set the column widths for Tables and Matrix visuals to auto adjust based on the data displayed, but if you scroll down/right when the data exceeds the area allocated to the visualization, the column widths do not re-adjust for the new data that is displayed and you get either wrapped values or partially displayed values. You can fix this by manually re-adjusting the column widths but that is tedious and should not be necessary.
