It would be great to conditional format a table and/or a matrix based on the cell text, not only numbers

This month we added the ability to format text fields based off a numeric field: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-may-2018-feature-summary/#conditionalFormatting We also are planning on adding a feature that will let you format your text based on comparisons. I'll update this idea based on our progress on that feature.

RE: Conditional Formatting for Text
I hope this feature will be added on the next update/release this will greatly help our customization of our dashboards!
RE: Conditional Formatting for Text
As of February 12 2019 I still cannot conditional format for text, even though I changed the data type of the column to "Text". This is a feature I often used in excel to compare mismatching columns, text that started with XYZ or contained XYZ.
Why does Power Bi insist on turning all my text columns into "Count"? So frustrating.
RE: Conditional Formatting for Text
Conditional formatting for TEXT Please!
RE: Conditional Formatting for Text
The new ability from May 2018 still doesn't resole the original request. Totally agree that a text based conditional formatting would be great, e.g using a 'contains' rather than 'count' where there is a status field
RE: Conditional Formatting for Text
Hi, any news about this possible new feature.... Is a must have ..
RE: Conditional Formatting for Text
What about just having conditional formatting NOT based on a number field but just on the text (i.e., categorical value).
RE: Conditional Formatting for Text
By date comparisons, as well. Example - if 14 days past 'today', highlight as red. This would be highly valuable for time sensitive charts and data tables - chasing AR, etc.
RE: Conditional Formatting for Text
Conditional formatting for TEXTS not only numbers BIG please :)
RE: Conditional Formatting for Text
This should be something basic. I appreciate that you guys have added formatting by another numeric field. But because I'm a human and not a computer it's user to read words than numbers.
All of my tables have status columns, sometimes they're boolean true/false, sometimes they're text. EmployeeStatus: Active/Leave/Retired. VehicleStatus: Current/Sold. Insurance&Tax: Valid/Expired etc....
Now, I can go and add some more helper columns to covert each category into a number that can be recognized for conditional formatting (as if I haven't added enough helper columns already for Power BI workarounds) but shouldn't it be as simple as
Select column to format:
Format values that [!equal/!contain/!begin with] "Expired" colour "Red"
This is bonkers for a tool at this level
RE: Conditional Formatting for Text
Being able to do conditional formatting based on text would be a life saver!
