It seems unfair that Power BI desktop is updated each month with new and improved visuals but we will have to wait several months longer to have these improvements in Power BI Report Server. For example the new matrix visual is big improvement but those with Report Server will have to wait about 6 months before it is available to them. I'd like Report Server updates in parallel to Desktop updates.

As stated late last year, we're now committed to shipping regular updates every 4 months in January, May and September. This frequency is the best balance we've found for Enterprise customers between too rapid a cadence and too slow.

Also, when the Power BI RS releases do occur, be it every 4 months or whatever, will they always include All the updates up until that point in time that the cloud version has? Thanks

At the very least, get an update out that lets us use the latest custom visuals!
Letting the API version out of sync is ridiculous.

Is there an ETA for the next release? Or a preview of what might be in it? Just to set the expectations of my organisation :)

Thanks

The unfairness of all of this is exarcebated when we don't even get it every 4 months as promised!

I echo all of these comments. The management at my organziation (legal) was esctatic when they heard about the on-premise version at one of the CXO conferences they attended. It was the only way for me to get the buy in to upgrade from SSRS; however, it was so limited compared to the marketed release information for Power BI. Subscriptions don't even work still... every feature update that's listed on the site sounds great, but no mention of the Report server. For many of the REST and other services items why is the Azure Stack platform not a viable option since it's an on-prem cloud using Azure services. We legitimately cannot put our client data in the cloud, but also need the product to be mature enough to invest in it over Tableau and other platforms.

I would like one update every 2 month and see what it will be. By example i whould like visio visual integrated in the future update of Power bi report server but i don't know if it will be.

I suggest to short the support time to 6 month and release a new PowerBI report server bimonthly
