I can't believe that a basic feature like this needs votes to be implemented by the PowerBI Team. Some comments are from January , 2021. No solutions yet.
So many of my reports would be easier to read with this feature. Would be much appreciated.

2021 and still not implemented?
Not replicating very basic, intuitive Excel functions into PowerBI tables is such a shortcoming.
Given the issues with screen space in Power BI, this is essential - we have lots of long text strings in tables, and the lack of being able to freeze the left most columns is a major hold-up in moving people off other tools.
Would be good if the Power BI team takes a little pause and just looks at all the little features like these and clear them off before moving to flashier items.
Sometimes a well-designed table of values can provide way more insight that any visualization and freeze columns is a must-have functionality in a table visual. In column filters would be another one.
