Allow a user to set the default value for a slicer or tile-by value on a page/dashboard, so that when the Power View page is opened for the first time, the default value is selected.
eg. If the page has a slicer for Year or Month, allow the user to configure the most recent Year or Month to be selected by default.

Update 10/20/2022 - Update from Mo - we are working on this in the new year
Thanks for everyone's votes and comments. This is a feature on our backlog; however we cannot share a timeline at the moment.
It looks like many of the requests will be addressed by the new 'Sticky filters' capability. Now when you log out of Power BI and come back to a report, the same items will be selected as when you left. For those who're looking to have a 'last month' selection, the relative date slicer might help. Those with comments about currencies where having multiple selected makes the report meaningless - the report will load with whatever selection the author saved, so if you save it with one currency selected your users will see that by default. If there are scenarios that these features don't address, please let us know in your comments - if you are really specific it'll help us build the feature to work just the way you want! Thanks again!

RE: Default Selected Slicer or Tile-By Value Configuration
Any updates on this approaching end of Q2 now 8 years later!
RE: Default Selected Slicer or Tile-By Value Configuration
We also need this functionality.Dear Microsoft pleas stop firing your programmers, there are plenty of things to be done here!
RE: Default Selected Slicer or Tile-By Value Configuration
Any update on when this will be available? My client wants their reports to use the timeline slicer for 5 years' worth of data and have it default to the last 6 months. A relative date slicer will not work, as they need precise control over the filtered dates. Using two slicers in tandem will not work as it is not user friendly.
RE: Default Selected Slicer or Tile-By Value Configuration
With the new "Clear Slicers" button, this is now needed for situations where some slicers should return to a default value instead of no selection. For example, where one of the slicers controls a field parameter where the typical case is a single value, but multiple select is still allowed.
RE: Default Selected Slicer or Tile-By Value Configuration
This is one of the most requested thing within my company. We should be able to give users the option to go straight to the latest months data. We don't want to use the relative date slicer as you can select a specific month and year from this. Its also impossible to create a bookmark that saves the view of the latest month as you would have to update it at the start of each month.
RE: Default Selected Slicer or Tile-By Value Configuration
Hello, just checking when the Power BI team might be able to launch this feature? Right now, users can't have the most relevant slicer option automatically selected for them, which makes all reports look out of date. Thanks,
RE: Default Selected Slicer or Tile-By Value Configuration
Hi, We have a requirement in many of our dashboards to open the report with latest month. In most of the reports we use Year/Month or combined field of Year-Month as a slicer so that the user can select a year/month to see the data. Most of ours are monthly selection and when the report is opened by someone it should always show the latest month as default. May be sort by the most recent or use a measure which has max date and set it as default value in a slicer. Ex slicer which is showing data in horizontal way 2022-10 2022-11 2022-12 2022-01 2022-02 If I open the report in Feb 2023, by default it should have 2022-02 as selected/highlighted
RE: Default Selected Slicer or Tile-By Value Configuration
Some thoughts on slicers:I'd like to see the ability to set a default on a slicer which could be based on a measure. For example, I have a dashboard which by default I always want to show the latest date in the data, but I also want to allow users to choose older dates to see the dashboard as it was on the older selected date. The dashboard however, should always start with the latest data.In a multi select slicer I'd like to be able to choose which options are selected by default, by either hardcoding in a list the options or by providing the list in a measure.Ideally, I'd like to see an option to have slicers behave a bit more like parameters in SQL Server Reporting Services reports. Allow options to provide default value/s, and possible values.
RE: Default Selected Slicer or Tile-By Value Configuration
If it were always "last month" then yes, the relative date slicer would be the way to go. As my client said today, users aren't going to be able to figure out how to toggle the slicer out of relative data to a specific date
RE: Default Selected Slicer or Tile-By Value Configuration
To the Power BI Product Team, just checking if this is still planned for early this year? It's requiring a huge amount of manual report editing and saving each month to get the default slicers using the most appropriate value.
