The new Automatic Aggregations feature introduced in August 2021 (Announcing public preview of automatic aggregations! | Microsoft Power BI Blog | Microsoft Power BI) required the fact table to be direct query. The existing Aggregations feature in Power BI models also requires a direct query fact table. Why?
Aggregations on top of an import-only model could still be very helpful and save a lot of time.
