mockup looks great
Mockup looks great! I hope it gets picked up.
'+ a type ahead functionality would be a plus, or kind of "auto fill", e.g. start typing "calc" than press e.g. "Tab" and the editor propose results, like "Calculate".
+ a formula checker (like others already suggested would be great.
I support entire idea. What a great effort DaveG. Thank you. Hope to see something similar soon.
Your Mockup is Fantastic DaveG !
Must have feature!
The mockup looks fantastic, I can't believe they haven't even started to implement this yet.
This is a critical issue that is keeping me from migrating several business critical reports from Excel to PowerBI. Having maintained this data for over 7 years, we followed the progression of PowerBI from it's early origins in PowerPivot, creating tons of custom measures with both complex relationships and DAX formulae in their Data Models.
What? W don't have advanced editor in Power BI? Oh come on...I was about to ditch Excel for Power Pivot and now I have to go back...
Best mockup I've seen!! In a fully centralized data storage, a variable/measure that depends on native fields can be dragged across to other PBIX just as natural and whether the new pbix consumes the same native fields then it can attempt the calculation.
Brilliant idea, great mockup that clearly highlights the benefits. The only thing you're missing in the DAX Editor is a "check formula" button. I also suggest that you cross-post this into the Excel Uservoice site as well, because the Excel measures interface, while better than the existing Power BI one, could also be improved in this way.
Very good idea and preparation, I like that mockup.

Update 10/17: This is now in our upcoming roadmap and we will share more details in the coming months. Mo
We've been leaning on the community tools like Tabular Editor, DAX Studio, BISM Normalizer, to provide high-end DAX editing capabilities. We don't have any short-term plans to add more DAX management tools to the product, but we'll be looking at ways to better integrate those tools.
