Anyone who uses PowerBI long enough has had a PBIX with 50-60 measures and it has become time consuming and tedious to mantain. In Excel you can do a quick find/replace to edit several formulas - in PowerBI you need to select each one individually. An "excel-like" interface for editing measures would save a lot of time! This would take PowerBI to the next level regarding productivity. I've prepared a mockup for this as well as a DAX Editor. Let me know what you think.

Update 10/17: This is now in our upcoming roadmap and we will share more details in the coming months. Mo

We've been leaning on the community tools like Tabular Editor, DAX Studio, BISM Normalizer, to provide high-end DAX editing capabilities. We don't have any short-term plans to add more DAX management tools to the product, but we'll be looking at ways to better integrate those tools.

There is a new app named PMM (Power Mesures Manager) that dose just this

I absolutely love this idea and every day I find myself wishing the Measure editor was better in the ways that have been listed. I was just spending a fair amount of time yesterday in the Excel Name Manager and thought that the same type of tool would be great in PBI as well. Also, the current editor is so clunky, to have a Visual Studio style editor with line numbers and better controls over the size as I'm constantly fighting with it opening to nearly the full screen. I'd love to be able to drag the size to a sticky setting.

A large portion of the time developing PBI solutions is in the Measure editor and it really would be a huge efficiency gain to get a more robust editor. Thank You!!! and Please!!!

Absolutely a must

There are already some great comments on this, but just wanted to reiterate that having a pop up window with enhanced syntax highlighting, find and replace and the ability to enter and tab and all of that without the editor trying to exit would be amazing. Also would be really cool to have all the measures right over in a sidebar that would allow easily selecting and modifying other measures. Supports for repository / favorites / templates / snippets would also be a really cool feature.

It would also be nice to be able to easily copy measures from one report to another. I sometimes use the same measures over multiple reports. If there was a repository where measures could be copied/maintained, it would make it a lot easier to use many measures over many reports.

This is so fundamental. Please do this Microsoft.

9 months and no update for an idea that's #4 on the Top list with 4,000 votes. Idea submitted almost 2 years ago.

The lack of centralized measure management a key gap in PBI’s ability to act as an enterprise semantic layer. Compare PBI to how Looker, Qlik, Domo, or GoodData treat this issue as a starting point. Get this right and people will be dropping their SAP BO tomorrow.

This is one of most important things to have. Clients do not understand that we can't do bulk changes or migrations of measures.
