The recent addition of conditional formatting for values is wonderful. However, it would be great to have the ability format subtotals and totals, as the variation on those fields are often even more important to draw attention to.

This feature is needed. For example in the case that you have a matrix with values of different currencies, and you want to put a column for the currency, you don't have a way to take out the value in the total row for that column that is text.

In most cases the "Total" line is the one that bring the most value. This feature should be there to allow it to stand out better.

This is very basic functionality from Excel and desperately needed.

Please, Power BI team, stop adding fancy bells and whistles on top of a crumbling foundation. You need to get the basics figured out first.

My organization is filled with heavy Excel users, and it's impossible to get them to take Power BI seriously when it's lacking basic functionality like this.

WE. NEED. THIS. In excel it was very easy to tell what was negative/decreased (RED) and what was positive/increased (BLACK), for both normal data AND the total rows/columns. How is this simple feature still not implemented two and a half years later...???!?!?!?!

RE: Conditional Formatting for Total and Subtotals in Matrices

The new conditional formatting is a much-needed feature, so thanks for providing it. What would be really useful however is to be able to specify if the formatting should be applied to just the lowest level of data displayed (in hierarchy terms), or only to the subtotals, or all.

Here is a workaround:

It is a necessary feature for any boss who sees his employees but cannot see the total he delivers.
