Imagine a world where report creators can automatically apply slicer and filter selections based on specific logic, revolutionizing data analysis and user experience. This innovative approach eliminates any need for complex workarounds, optimizes slicer functionality, and paves the way for more efficient and effective data reporting.

RE: Epic idea: Apply filter selections automatically
Any progress? We encounter numerous reporting scenarios that necessitate default date ranges in our slicers. Currently, the slicers are manually set to the start and end of the month, requiring a monthly update.

Any updates on this approaching end of Q2 now 8 years later!

We also need this functionality.Dear Microsoft pleas stop firing your programmers, there are plenty of things to be done here!
RE: Epic idea: Apply filter selections automatically
Any update on when this will be available? My client wants their reports to use the timeline slicer for 5 years' worth of data and have it default to the last 6 months. A relative date slicer will not work, as they need precise control over the filtered dates. Using two slicers in tandem will not work as it is not user friendly.
RE: Epic idea: Apply filter selections automatically
One way this could be implemented is by adding a "Default" option in the slicer detail pane. Then allow either a relative date or dax formula to specify the starting date range desired.
RE: Epic idea: Apply filter selections automatically
As many users have commented, being able to set the default value for filters dynamically would be great. For example, date formats could let you set "greater than 12 months ago" and "less than 11 months ago". Or number formats could filter by "greater than" and "less than". Text formats could do the normal "starts with" or "contains". Etc.. This helps to define filters to be updated automatically as time passes and more data enters into the dataset that can't be identified/named during the development of the model.
RE: Epic idea: Apply filter selections automatically
In date slicer we should be able to set a default date dynamically, e.g today, yesterday

This should have been out of the box... This feature was amazing in SSRS, why didn't they bring it to PBI is mind boggling...
