Vote on this idea if you want expand/collapse on column headers in the matrix similar to what was shipped for row headers in November (https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-november-2018-feature-summary/#expandCollapse).

10/20/2022 - Just an update, this is an extremely expensive item, which is why it has not been picked up yet. I promise we will revisit this after we ship visual calculations

Please provide a more recent update on this. It's been six months and this is a very highly requested feature. Let's now force customers to use 3rd party tools for something basic like this that even Excel can do.

Re the comment at the top by Administrator on 2023-01-28.... Well visual calculations shipped, I believe. Will we see any movement on the matrix feature requests sometime soon? My clients often comment about the Power BI Matrix along the line "Oh, I can do that in Excel, how come not in Power BI?" and I have to agree. Not just this specific feature but lots of the functionality that exists in the good old Excel pivot table is impossible to deliver to users in Power BI.

highly needed, this will be a great feature to have. I'm looking for an option to collaps some details that are less important at first view so the option to only expand it when more information is needed would be nice.

Totally agree with comment from @Robert Hawke down below. Expensive item?? What is the rule of your roadmap? Release and fix later ? How come, in the world of Power BI, nobody thought that more than one field on column headers would be a good idea ? I cannot think that it was not made by choice. So instead of focusing everybody on ideas that could not be thought in your team and you would use this forum as a real brain stormer, everybody is spending time on requesting basic features nobody want to ask (this is SO BASIC..) anbd nobody want to develop... This is INSANE!!!!

This feature has been available in excel for years. It is a great way to have more information in one visual.
