Vote on this idea if you want expand/collapse on column headers in the matrix similar to what was shipped for row headers in November (https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-november-2018-feature-summary/#expandCollapse).

10/20/2022 - Just an update, this is an extremely expensive item, which is why it has not been picked up yet. I promise we will revisit this after we ship visual calculations

RE: Add expand/collapse feature to column headers
This would be a big help. I come from a SAP BW/BI background and we take for granted the ability to be able to organise measures using expand/collapse toggles. I was surprised this was not available by default in Power BI.

RE: Add expand/collapse feature to column headers
Hello Microsoft - This is a very important function. This will save me time. Currently I have to export and pivot the data in excel because of this lack of functionality. This is a features gives a glimpse of the past by years and let me focus on the quarters of the current years. The executives love this feature.
RE: Add expand/collapse feature to column headers
I cannot understand why this feature is missing from Power BI, but it seems that setting column width in a table or matrix would be a great standard feature.
RE: Add expand/collapse feature to column headers
When implemented can this also include the ability to have measures outside of column groups like in SSRS. At the moment if you have something in the columns, all the measures get split by it. I need a column grouping which can be expanded, in addition to measures outside of the column group. Hope this makes sense.
RE: Add expand/collapse feature to column headers
Also having the ability to Ctrl or Shift a bunch of columns and equally space them out.
