When users try to access to any POWER BI dashboard, which they don't have access to, it would be nice to custom Pop up to ask them to raise request to access it, instead of generic one.

RE: Custom "Request Access" pop up button
Looks like MS shipped something similar, but not fulfilling core business needs. Here's the another improvement idea, that is (I hope) more specific towards custom pop-up for viewer access:https://ideas.fabric.microsoft.com/ideas/idea/?ideaid=da99d80c-843f-ef11-b4ac-00224851bf7d
RE: Custom "Request Access" pop up button
Trying again, I last commented here back or "07 Feb 2024 18:31:45" (see below) and no resolution yet - I have a feeling that one team is not talking to the other team...The "Request Access" for BUILD permission ONLY may have been "shipped" but the simple "Request Access" to a dataset within a Workspace has not, that is READ access to a dataset within a Workspace still sends the generic email from the requestor to the dataset owner - the end user does NOT get a pop up telling them to submit a ticket to our help desk as I instructed!!!Please review this again - I can send screen shots of the override I set up on the dataset and of the email I get instead of the end user getting the message if that is needed or check our your learn page as I have done exactly what is specified here yet it does not give the end user the message, instead it sends me a generic email "Build permission for shared semantic models - Power BI | Microsoft Learn" https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/service-datasets-build-permissions?branch=master#change-the-access-request-behavior(Notice that the URL even says "Build permission" when you copy and paste the direct link to the learn.microsoft.com page - just saying...)Your help is appreciated.Thank you,Tom
RE: Custom "Request Access" pop up button
Dear all, what exactly means "We shipped this improvement" (did not find any explanation in the FAQ's). My understanding is that the idea was implemented already. However, it is not clear when (which version etc.). Would appreciate if someone can comment on this. THANKS!
RE: Custom "Request Access" pop up button
How is this not implemented yet? Especially when it is possible to do for Power BI app already! This needs to be moved up in priority for early this year since it has been on here since 2020.
RE: Custom "Request Access" pop up button
Supporting what is written below, we are also attempting to use AD/AAD Groups to give access to Reports and Workspaces. This will continue as we move to Fabric as it uses the same mechanism as Power BI Service (looks like a name change to me...) There must be a better way to handle this situation other than adding a custom message to each Workspace. I put a custom message into 2 Workspaces telling the User that they need to submit a Help Desk Ticket to request access specifying the Report and Workspace they need access to and this then requires adding the user to the appropriate Group assigned the appropriare access. This is not really a solution as we have a bunch of Workspaces and doing them 1 by 1 is pretty tedius. Add a way for the Fabric Admin to globally control how it works - you could add an option to turn it on Globally or on an individual workspace level. Just a thought.Kevin Warren on 12 Dec 2023 14:36:20RE: Custom "Request Access" pop up buttonI agree with Walter below. If Microsoft is going to tout Apps and AD groups as a best practice, can we customize the message to instruct the read request access on how to gain access by requesting access to the AD group? LFG
RE: Custom "Request Access" pop up button
Come on Microsoft you can deliver this low hanging fruit.
RE: Custom "Request Access" pop up button
Hi all, the title of this idea is more general and the original description speaks about dashboards specifically...but we treat this idea as the broad request for custom access denied message settings for any item type in Fabric or Power BI, including reports. With that said, we're excited to tell you that custom message settings for apps has been released! @Kevin Warren, @Carol Witts, @Matthew Floyd, and many others...we'd love to hear what you think. Please read about it here on the Power BI blog:https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/announcing-custom-messaging-for-power-bi-app-access-requests/Here's the apps specific idea for custom message settings:https://ideas.fabric.microsoft.com/ideas/idea/?ideaid=39a91166-4800-ec11-b76a-281878bd39b4We now have custom message settings for semantic models and apps. We know there's a desire to add the same setting for other item types throughout Fabric and Power BI and will update this idea once settings are made available for other item types.

RE: Custom "Request Access" pop up button
Holy NO TRACTION batman! This was initially requested by Diego on 2017-11-29 01:42:34 (from the merged section). Are you telling me that after 6 years, not a peep? I think I've checked for some sort of update once/twice a month. Come on Microsoft, let's take care of this already instead of treating this ISSUE like low hanging fruit.
RE: Custom "Request Access" pop up button
For IT-owned reports, the report owner - i.e. the report developper or the service principal use by the publishing pipeline - does not have authority to grant access. The access request need to be routed to the service desk.It would be useful to be able to configure the recipient of the "request access" emails, as well as the content of the message sent to the user requesting access.
