In May 2017 Power BI Desktop started supporting creation of DAX measures when working in live connect mode to an external SSAS model: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/power-bi-desktop-may-feature-summary/
Vote on this idea if you want support for calculated measures against multidimensional models too.

We need this functionality for Multidimensional cubes. We don't use tabular.

Only Tabular was included?!? I thought the May release was for either, I guess I was wrong. Really needed this for Multidimensional, just not getting any love...

MD should start to get the features at the same time as TB we MD customers are a allways being forgotten and we are the ones advocating MS products and SSAS

Its disappointing that, we can not create Measures for Cubes live Connection. I thought, May release would make it possible.
Can you please let everyone know by when can we expect this? Coz, to bring "measures for SSAS tabular live connection", you took quite a long time.
All we need is an estimate time of release at this moment please. We need to answer other stake holders of our project for the same question.

Why is Tabular the first to get everything! It seems from reading comments MD is still heavily used?

Has work on multidimensional been started or you are going to wait till it gathers votes?
I mean the original idea was for both multidimensional and tabular - and a lot of people might have voted for calculated measures on multidimensional already.

This is the thing that will prevent us from moving off our current data visualization software. I don't want to lose live functionality or have to modify our cube every time we need to build a slightly modified calculation.
