I have a large set of options from which I would like to pick some specific ones and use them in a slicer to filter my data.
Currently, this is not possible while it is an implemented feature for other chart types.
I'm currently using a 100% stacked column chart as a workaround.

I'm happy to say this is now complete! In the June 2019 release of Power BI Desktop you'll see you can set visual level filters on slicers. There's one known issue where applying a measure filter to a slicer in range mode causes the visual to show an error. We'll release a fix in an interim update before the July release. Thanks for your patience and your votes, everyone!

RE: Visual level filtering in slicers

There are houndreds of comments after this Idea was marked as "Completed", all complaining about the filters for slicers "Select All" should not contained non-filtered values. Can we get an update from the Microsoft Team about this simple and requested feature?

RE: Visual level filtering in slicers

I'm not so happy. In slicers, there should be an ability to "Select All Filtered" instead of "Select All" which selects ALL values including ones which are not filtered? An example: I have 10,000 patients each with a diagnosis. If I filter on specific types of diagnosis I get a subset of the patients relevant for those diagnosis'. Naturally. So Far So Good. HOWEVER, if I want to then see which other diagnosis' are relevant for that subset of patients, I cannot instead choose just those patients in the relevant Patient Slicer, it selects ALL. And I obviously cannot individually click/select on each filtered patient due to their number?

This is not suffice the actual issue. I need to set the current year as default year for my drop down. Which, i think, currently not possible. User can select past years or future years if required but default should be current year only. If this is possible then please provide me steps to achieve the same.

Great news to hear that this is a known issue with a fix on the way! Just ran into this one today. Thank you!

The error is "primary projections must have set equality with the corresponding subset in the filter target."

I second this: When will this be available for the Power BI Report Server version?

Hey Will, unfortunately the votes will now move to the new filter experience that has the same problem!

What do you mean "enabling filters again soon"?
