There Should be Provision of passing the Parameter to the report like we do in SSRS Reports. There should be any method to execute Stored Procedure by passing the Parameters

RE: Passing Parameters to Power BI through Stored Procedure

Right now, this is a MAJOR hole in PowerBI. When we deal with extremely large datasets, it is cumbersome to pull those datasets into the nightly cache offered by the Premium service and then cumbersome to deal with filtering the data down that is transmitted to the user, especially over remote internet connections being used by people working at home. Using parameterized stored procedures is a age old norm used by SSRS and other competing products that was completely overlooked in PowerBI. This should be a direct query feature and needs to be present in order for large enterprises to be willing to migrate from SSRS to PowerBi..

Astonishing that this functionality is not available. This is the most basic of tasks for a BI tool. How could this have been overlooked? This is a requirement for anyone with data of any size.

RE: Passing Parameters to Power BI through Stored Procedure

The lack of this feature is preventing me from moving my organisation's reports to Power BI. I got excited about dynamic query parameters in the 2020 preview release but bizarrely they don't support common relational databases: https://prologika.com/power-bi-dynamic-m-query-parameters-another-opportunity-missed-for-directquery-users/

Hopefully that feature will be extended to other connectors very soon, it would open up many use cases.

Cant seem to vote on this? Need this feature - exactly like you can on SSRS reports where we have parameters on procedures and they are used on the reports - user needs to be prompted. Thanks

Yes, it's a must-have functionality we will need in Power BI asap. Hopefully, it's on your roadmap.

RE: Passing Parameters to Power BI through Stored Procedure

This is quite a basic requirement from any client to dynamically query data based on paramaters provided... Can the Power BI Team at Microsoft take this as priority please

RE: Passing Parameters to Power BI through Stored Procedure

I have started shifting my reports to power bi but due to lack of this process that we can't pass parameters to stored procedures like we are doing in SSRS is unbelievable, it should be from the beginning, we are waiting for this updates.

RE: Passing Parameters to Power BI through Stored Procedure

This is a needed feature as we will be replicating our SSRS reports which use a number of Stored Procedures which use Parameters.

RE: Passing Parameters to Power BI through Stored Procedure

This is the key feature when using direct queries, which is missing today to pass the parameters to SP's. Also, take advantage of SQL Objects rather than user queries.

competitors are providing this basic feature since the beginning.
It's been ~5 years PBI came out and still missing this feature.
