Imagine a world where report creators can automatically apply slicer and filter selections based on specific logic, revolutionizing data analysis and user experience. This innovative approach eliminates any need for complex workarounds, optimizes slicer functionality, and paves the way for more efficient and effective data reporting.

RE: Epic idea: Apply filter selections automatically
This is a high-valued propose but seemed to be neglected by the team for 4 years. Pls seriously THINK about it.
RE: Epic idea: Apply filter selections automatically
I don't think 'Sticky Filters' is the same thing. I want the ability for the date slicers to filter for Dec when it's Dec and Jan when it's Jan. BUT I want the user to be able to change the date filter if they want to with out having to teach them how to change the filter out of relative mode (which most report consumers will not know about). I also want the ability to look up information in a table and set default filters using a DAX expression (but not using RLS, just a default filter selection) so that users in the Sales department see Sales information by default, but they can change to look at other departments. In fact in both these scenarios I would want 'Sticky Filters' off so that when users re-open the report the default filters are active.

Is this ever going to be done? Total lack of understanding from Microsoft of the types of issues being faced in the real world.
RE: Epic idea: Apply filter selections automatically
I, too, need the ability to have date slicers in my reports default to the latest/max date (which is not necessarily today or yesterday).
RE: Epic idea: Apply filter selections automatically
Does anyone have a solution for this suggestion.

Just adding to the 326 comments before me: This need is not yet adressed! Frankly the pinned Admin-comment regarding new feautures completely misses the mark in terms of delivering a default slicer range.

Hi, here is my scenario. I have users all around the world. They need to see how other regions are performing, however, they have their own region. When an user enters the dropdown list with the regions should preselect user's region. I have tried several scenarios with RLS but it has been futile.

Power BI is a wonderful thing, but some of the simple things my users are used to in Excel aren't yet possible. This needs to be fixed to get people to accept the change from Excel to PBI.
RE: Epic idea: Apply filter selections automatically
Can't believe this has not been implemented yet!

None of the existing features addresses the issue - we need the latest date from the dropdown to be selected when we open the report. It seems very logical feature and surprisingly its not there. With relative filters - many of our users find them not so straight forward to use although we did use it in some cases. I dont find sticky filters very useful, depends on the situation, idealy would be to have the latest value from the list selected - when the filter is date. It its department, in that case sticky filter makes sense.
