It seems unfair that Power BI desktop is updated each month with new and improved visuals but we will have to wait several months longer to have these improvements in Power BI Report Server. For example the new matrix visual is big improvement but those with Report Server will have to wait about 6 months before it is available to them. I'd like Report Server updates in parallel to Desktop updates.

As stated late last year, we're now committed to shipping regular updates every 4 months in January, May and September. This frequency is the best balance we've found for Enterprise customers between too rapid a cadence and too slow.

This would be exciting (or at least bearable) news if the 4 month time frame were being followed. From my recollection, the original time frame laid out of three months wasn't followed either. I feel like this is a ploy to annoy users so much that they just sign up their entire staff with Power Bi Pro licenses.

Any plans for an August update? It would be great if you can share the feature list and maybe a date of future releases. This will help us get better adoption for PBIRS as we can showcase upcoming features.

Our business users loved power bi service (web) functionality but realistically we need to be on-prem due to restrictions with data and our IT governance. If Power BI report server functionality continues to be limited and releases are not predictable, then our users will investigate using other tools like Tableau or Esri Insights.
Can you provide some updates about what is on the road map for report server?

It is now July. Are you planning to keep to your plan for roughly every 4 months and release and update this month? If not, then you should put the date that you will release.
We your community are big fans of Power BI but when you don't deliver on time, you make it harder to defend against people who propose we use Tableau.

There are laws that prevent us from putting personal information in the cloud. Your monthly release for desktop is useless to so many companies. You're cheap for exactly this reason and because you're cheap I have to use you.

Would it be possible to release new monthly features as 'add-ons' or 'plug-ins' for Report Server? Rather than wait for a full fledged release to include them all?

DMNC from what I have seen they do not include all the features up to the release of the report server. It would be great if they did seeing how there are some useful additions on the non RS option. Unfortunately I have not had success with reports uploaded to report server with power Bi desktop versions outside the RS version.

Can we use custom visuals form the "import from marketplace" option with Power BI RS? People mention wanting to get the "latest" ones below, which seems to imply they can get some but not all. If that's the case how does one know which marketplace visuals you can import and which ones you cannot for a given version of power BI RS? Also do the visuals need to be installed server side as well? thanks
